Soulshaker is Matt Meyers and Warren Meyers, London-born brothers who came up through 1990s UK rave, house and garage and never left the dancefloor. They write, produce, remix and DJ from their own Surrey studio complex, as a family business with its own labels.
Music runs in the family. Their father, Dave Meyers, was a songwriter with his own studio. Matt was promoting raves and DJing on pirate radio at 15, and at 25 he took over SAW's Hit Factory studios in London Bridge. Warren started writing on an eight-track in his bedroom at 13 and grew into the duo's lead composer.
The first Soulshaker vocal record, Hypnotic Erotic Games with Lorraine Brown, found its way onto Hed Kandi and Ministry of Sound compilations. Since then the credits have run from the club to primetime: a US Billboard Dance Club Songs #1 co-written and produced for Deborah Cox, remixes for Chaka Khan, Mary J. Blige, Robin S and Lindsay Lohan, and theme music for ITV's Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and The Big Reunion.
For many years the Soulshaker DJ line-up also included their honorary brother, DJ Gizmo (Gary Manktelow), on gigs from London clubs to Dubai.
They still spend Tuesdays in the studio. New Soulshaker records sit alongside their side project, The Meyers Bros, and the DJ sets keep it honest.
