Our first single goes to #1

Hypnotic Erotic Games, with Lorraine Brown on vocals, was the first Soulshaker single and our first #1: top of the Music Week Upfront Club Chart on 28 May 2005. The same day, Judge Jules played it on BBC Radio 1. It started life on our own Audiofreaks label and came out on Gut Records.

    Into the Hed Kandi family

Hypnotic Erotic Games made Hed Kandi's Disco Heaven compilation, and later the all-time best-of Hed Kandi album. One reviewer said tracks like ours should "carry a health warning".

    Re-released, and #1 again

Gusto picked up Hypnotic Erotic Games for a 2006 re-release with new mixes from Paul Harris, Mystery & Matt Early, Uniting Nations, Aurora and Wally Montana, and it went back to #1. That August, Seamus Haji reviewed the Paul Harris dub in DMC's Update magazine: "a throbbing bassline that all make for a very sexy groove".

With a #1 behind us, the DJ bookings started: Belushi's in Southwark, and Naked at Rouge in Middlesbrough, billed as "the Soulshaker debut" with "one of the biggest dance records of 2005 alongside Axwell and The Freemasons". In those years the DJ line-up included our honorary brother, DJ Gizmo (Gary Manktelow).

Music directors on The Big Reunion

ITV2's The Big Reunion brought the 2000s' biggest pop groups back together, and as Audiofreaks we were the music directors: the theme tune, the music, and the recording sessions at our Galactic Studios, where much of the series was filmed. It ended in an award-winning arena tour.

“For a series like The Big Reunion, getting the music right was paramount to the success of the show. When Audiofreaks joined the party we couldn't believe our luck! … I would not hesitate to work with these guys again.”
